Returning by Bike Zine Series

Through Returning by Bike, my ongoing zine series, I document bikepacking journeys from Seoul to Busan, along Korea’s East Coast from Sokcho to Pohang, and around Jeju Island. Across two self-published zines, I blend practical bike touring guides with personal reflections on adoption, culture, and homecoming.

The series explores the many ways adoptees reconnect with Korea and reminds readers that there’s no right way to return. Your story, your path, and your pace are all valid.

Korean Coasts Zine

Korean Coasts is the second chapter of my bicycle journey through Korea, exploring identity, belonging, and landscape as a Korean adoptee. The zine follows two very different rides: a solo bike tour along Korea's East Coast and a group ride around Jeju Island with friends. Part practical bike touring guide and part personal reflection, it shares route GPS maps, food, culture, and what it felt like to return to my homeland by bike.

More than a cycling story, it's about slowing down, reconnecting, and discovering how movement through a place can deepen your understanding of where you come from.

Seoul to Busan Zine
Seoul Busan Zine – 2

Seoul to Busan Zine

Riding from Seoul to Busan was more than just a bike ride, it was a way to move through memory, belonging, and identity at my own pace. This zine shares a small part of that journey, and I hope it reminds others, especially fellow adoptees, that your story, your way of returning, and your pace are all valid.

Inside, you’ll also find practical tips for biking the Seoul to Busan route, including a link to the map, route history, where to camp or stay in motels, and more.

Dear Public Lands is a small, fill-in zine created in collaboration with The Wilderness Society to help you reflect on the public lands you love and why they matter. Fill the pages with memories, drawings, favorite places, and reasons to protect them. Then stamp it, send it to the Department of the Interior, and share your voice with Secretary Burgum.

Public lands are not for sale. They belong in public hands.
